Can anyone advice me a good tutorial that starts with the real basics?

The book "Mastering Unreal Technology" is what I'd advise using.

Use the program WinRAR. PowerArchiver and other similar programs will do it too, but WinRAR's trial works forever.

btw found a pdf version on the internetz.. (it's black & white, sometimes you can't read it that well) and it looks 'heavy' lol.
