The Cost of Nostalgia

I've been reliving my childhood recently by going through my small collection of Playstation games (generally stuff like Crash Bandicoot and so on). My favourite game was called Suikoden II (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suikoden_II), which I guess some here will have heard of and played. I have an original copy of this game, but the disc has always been scratched and the game sadly crashes about halfway through ... I've therefore never been able to finish it.

Maybe, I thought, I could pick up a cheap copy ...

It's just my luck that this game is perhaps the rarest, and most valuable, PS1 game

Aha, thanks, but I don't have anything like 100 euros to spend! The emulator option is working well though, thanks for the tip. I don't feel so bad considering the game has been out of print for 15 years, and I already have an original.

Honestly that's why I do it. I owned all of the consoles I listed above with hundreds spent on games. I still own some of them, up in the loft. I just have no desire to go digging for them, setting them all up only to get bored after 30 mins and put them all away again.

Much easier to just download a copy and have some fun quickly.

Besides, are you supporting the game creator if you buy a used copy on ebay or amazon? The creators see none of that money. No different to downloading third party if you ask me.

Yeah, you should just grab ePSXe and go. I enjoy classic games as well, recently been playing Tekken 2 and Crash 2 / 3. I mean, I do own the actual games, but since ripping ISOs myself is such a chore (and because the European versions of Tekken have PAL slowdown) I grab the NTSC ISOs from the Internet.

No controller/emulation BS with the computer, just like how you played it.
