First IKS InstaGib Tournament
This is a ranking tournament. It is FREE and there are NO PRIZES other than ability to participate in future tournaments which require ranking.
Future tournaments will include entry fees and PRIZES. In order not to make the whole thing a "gunz strip club fund", all players need to be ranked, so they can compete amongst their peers.
When will the tournament take place?
To save time, first fights start today. Moreover, from this day on, everyone is welcome on our server at 9 pm CET as a spectator. From there we'll begin scheduling fights.
Where will the tournament take place?
On our dedicated IKS InstaGib Deathmatch server. It can be found on first place in server browser after choosing deathmatch game type, after sorting servers by name. Although some people report troubles connecting, it is also possible to access it via "iks.one" adress.
What is the point of it? What will i get from it?
You will get your skill ranking - completely objective and comparable. Without official skill ranking you can not participate in future tournaments, which also feature money prizes.
How is the skill rating derived from tournament results?
It uses special weighted kills algorithm. Fragging a player will grant you as many points, as many kills he gets in all of tournament. This is to ensure that killing a dangerous fighter will be more rewarding than fragging a bottom tier player. The algorithm is further explained here: http://pastebin.com/F9xbDnLS
What exact mechanics will the tournament follow?
Tournament will consist of many double duels. Each double duel will consist of two duels - each on a map of each player's choice, to ensure fairness of the outcome. In order to secure everything against statistical artifacts, frag limit will be set to 25, along with time limit of 15 minutes, to disable excessive camping. During each duel there will be 6 spectator places on the server, so people can watch their friends/enemies fighting to death. In this tournament everybody has to fight everybody, meaning that there will be 0.5*(n-1)n^2 fights, where n is number of participants. For 10 participants there will be 45 double duels, which is 90 of 15-minute duels. This is why the tournament has to last several days.
Where can i access all the stats?
All the stats will be published in this thread by me and Den. Both explicit duel outcome and ranking results.
Me and my opponent want to play special rules. Can we?
It depends. You can't play 1v1 instagib with 100 score limit on ONS-Torlan, but you can both agree to play one long match on one map.
Where can i sign up?
Right below, or just come to the server and say that you want to fight.
